Waste
The Land and Resource Management Unit (LRM)
is responsible for the implementation of waste management policy and the promotion of a more sustainable
approach to dealing with waste in Northern Ireland. This will make a major contribution to safeguarding
the environment and promoting resource efficiency and economic growth.
The new Towards Resource Management: The Northern Ireland Waste Management
Strategy 2006 - 2020
( pdf - 2MB) was launched on the 30th March 2006
and provides a framework for the development and achievement of effective resource and waste management
practices in Northern Ireland.
The policies and actions identified in the Strategy are applicable to all controlled
wastes.A comprehensive set of Waste Stream Summaries has also been published in Volume
2 of the Strategy (pdf - 2.29 MB ).
